The Youth Formation program at Gesu Parish provides faith formation and a better sense of faith community to teenagers in grades 9-12.
High School
This year, high schoolers will explore the Bible in the Gospel of Luke and role models in living out our faith. In the Fall, teens will go deeper into what the Bible teaches us about God through reading, discussion, and activities. In Spring, we will learn about different role models in our Church’s history and what we can learn from them about how to live out our faith today.
Confirmation
The Sacrament of Confirmation is often received in high school. Gesu’s Youth Formation program prepares students for this sealing with the Holy Spirit. Students must be at least 16 years of age. Youth preparing to receive the sacrament of Confirmation will participate in formation classes, conversations with their sponsor, a retreat, and service in the church and community. Formation will follow the Loyola Press Confirmed in the Spirit. "Confirmed in the Spirit is a... comprehensive, and flexible sacramental preparation program designed to welcome and form young people as they grow in faith and embrace their roles as disciples of Jesus Christ. Based on years of extensive research from experts in the field of catechesis and youth ministry, the components are doctrinally sound and use a proven pedagogy created by the Sisters of Notre Dame. The results are unparalleled experiences and support for young people and the adults who guide them." - Loyola Press
