The Child Formation program at Gesu Parish provides an opportunity for faith formation of children in K3-8th grade. Our goal is to foster growth in your child's relationship with God and in their Catholic faith.
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
Children 3-6 years old participate in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS). CGS is a Montessori based style of catechesis. A room near the lower church is being prepared as an atrium used specifically for CGS. "CGS is a common religious experience involving children and adults in which the religious values of childhood, primarily those values of contemplation and enjoyment of God, are predominant. This experience is shared in a place particularly prepared for the religious life of children called the Atrium." - CGS USA
1st-8th Grade
1st-8th grade uses a classroom model with the Ignatian focused Finding God curriculum. "Finding God: Our Response to God's Gifts is rooted in Scripture, Catholic doctrine, and Ignatian spirituality. Built for today's learner, children are offered a new model of catechesis that embraces technology, responds to the ongoing invitation to enter into a deeper relationship with God, and encourages them to find God in all things." - Loyola Press
Our program aims to work alongside parents and families to guide the child in their faith journey. Talking about the faith and practicing it within the family builds a firm foundation from which the child’s faith can grow.
